Cerebrovascular Disorders

The National Virtual Institute (IVN) of Cerebrovascular Disorders encompasses the expertise of the Italian centers actively involved in the management of patients suffering from cerebrovascular diseases, both in the acute phase and in the rehabilitation process, and the scientific excellence in the study of these diseases both in the laboratory and in clinical practice. Through networking, the aim is to develop and consolidate the activity of collaboration and mutual exchange in the different areas of interest (clinical, technological/infrastructural, biological/molecular, preclinical) among the members of the IVN, with the final purpose to ensure full operation through the harmonization of study protocols and procedures, in order to offer the same standard of diagnosis and care to all patients, to collect large cohorts for research projects and advanced clinical trials, to develop preclinical experimental models for the study of pathogenesis, to identify new biomarkers, therapeutic targets and innovative therapies. The future growth of the activities of this IVN is aimed at capitalizing the value of the large amount of information and the expertise of the participants to create a common base of (big)-data oriented to analysis with Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and for the development of Decision Support Systems (DSS) applicable to everyday life, aimed at the personalization of therapies and assistance also in the view of optimizing resources. Therefore, the IVN will be able to propose itself as a leading partner on the international scene (patient associations, scientific societies, industry, supranational networks).
